Today I will be sharing with you 100 powerful Root Chakra affirmations.

The root chakra or the Muladhara Chakra in Sanskrit is also termed “The root of all things.” This energy point is located at the base of your spine. To be a little bit more specific, it’s along the pelvic floor and the first three vertebrae.

The root chakra is the first of the seven primary chakras. This chakra is responsible for your sense of safety and security in the world you live in. Moreover, its governance includes stability, strength, and commitment.

It’s a centre for your emotional and spiritual balance, as well as instinctual consciousness. The Muladhara chakra is responsible for preserving the self and feeling grounded.

We can break down the word Muladhara into two Sanskrit words, namely Mula and Adhara. Mula means “root,” and Adhara means “support” or “base.” This energy point is tied to survival and our ability to thrive.

In our changing world, we have come to include many concepts we deem essential for our survival. This extends the root chakra governing space taking health, wealth, and community into inclusion.

Now, through technological advances, we can expand our knowledge of health and how to survive. Our communities are also getting more vital and vital day by day.

The root chakra also governs our daily feelings like trust, belonging, and the state of being present. The root chakra holds specific importance in the energy system. The lack of “roots” can affect the integrity of the other chakras.

These effects can directly affect an individual’s well-being as a whole, mind, body, and spirit.

Be respectful of other cultures

Before we start…

When it comes to chakras, it is important to remember that these ideas are deeply rooted in religion and spirituality, specifically ancient eastern philosophies. There is a lot of history behind chakras and there are many ancient texts that address these ideologies.

So many communities have been living according to these philosophies for thousands of years, and many individuals from these communities are available for you to talk to and learn from them. No matter how educated you feel that you are or have become on the topic, always listen to the voices of those who have been living by these ideals for generations.

Before you embrace the idea of chakras and start incorporating that thinking into your life, be aware of the fact that you are integrating ideas from other cultures. Be culturally sensitive and aware, and treat these ideas with the respect that they deserve.

Avoid cultural appropriation by educating yourself on these topics and taking the time to learn about their history, significance, and meaning. You cannot incorporate ideas that come from a certain culture without accepting, respecting, and valuing that culture in and of itself first.

What is the Root Chakra?

Located at the base of your spine, the root chakra is your body’s energy centre for stability, safety, strength, security, groundedness, and inner peace. Your root chakra acts as your foundation. This is where you build your strength, power, and steadiness so that the flow of energy can easily move freely throughout your entire body.

A good metaphor is to think of your root chakra like the roots of a tree. With strong roots, you’ll remain stable, firm, and supported, no matter which way the wind blows. And that’s truly what your root chakra does for you; with an open and balanced root chakra, you’ll remain grounded, centred, and calm, no matter what’s going on in your external world.

Does this mean everything’s perfect all the time? Absolutely not. A balanced root chakra signifies that you feel firm in your place in life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have hopes and dreams for something more.

However, because you feel so solid and steady, you’re not desperate or distressed as you wait for your dreams to manifest. Rather, you’re able to let go, trust, and ground yourself to the present moment, knowing that all is truly going to be okay.

In this post, we’ll dive deep into root chakra healing and discuss some powerful practices for opening, balancing, and healing the root chakra. First, here are some of the key attributes of the root chakra:

  • Sanskrit Name: Muladhara (Mula: “root”; Adhara: “support” or “base”)
  • Location: Base of spine
  • Color: Red
  • Body Parts: Legs, Colon, Kidneys, Prostate, Bladder, Tailbone
  • Symbol: Four-petaled lotus with a square in the middle
  • Element: Earth
  • Mantra: LAM
  • Affirmation: I am
  • Balanced Attributes: Secure, Grounded, Strong, Centred, Stable, Steady, Safe, Peaceful, Supported, All Basic Needs Are Met
  • Imbalanced Attributes: Insecure, Anxious, Depressed, Scattered, Disconnected, Restless, Fearful, Cynical, Neglected, Worried
  • Fundamental Need: Survival

Location in the body

Where do we find the Root Chakra ? Well, it is found at the base of the spine, somewhere around the perineum and it corresponds to the section of the spine called the coccyx. Or to be more precise, it is located halfway between the anus and the genitals.

Earth element

Each Chakra has an element associated with it. The Muladhara, relates to the earth element and therefore to all solid earthly things as for example our bodies, our health, our survival, our material and monetary existence as well as our ability to manifest our needs.

If we look within our body, the Root Chakra relates to the solid parts such as the bones, the large intestine (that passes solid things) and the fleshy body as a whole. The earth element represents our need to stay grounded, alive, safe and healthy.

Root Chakra colour

The Muladhara is represented by the earth element which can be described as a solid, condensed state of matter and the ‘‘lowest‘ end of the Chakra spectrum.

Root-chakra

And so, it is visualised as a deep vibrant red which is the colour of beginning, the colour with the longest wavelength and the slowest vibration in the visible spectrum..

Signs of an imbalanced root chakra

  • too overly focused/hypervigilant
  • resistant to change
  • low energy
  • anxiety surrounding housing/living situation
  • insecurities (especially about finances)
  • trust issues
  • always needing control/dominance

Each chakra can be overactive or underactive, but those experiencing any of the signs previously mentioned have a passive, or deficient, root chakra. This means that not enough energy is feeding your roots. And since our bodies want to support us, even at our own detriment sometimes, the symptoms of an underactive root chakra are simply just mechanisms of protection. It’s up to you to work on bringing balance and harmony into these energy centres.

The Power of Affirmations

Words, whether written or spoken, have their own distinct power, do they not? They leave an impact on you that goes deeper into your soul than you suspect. Affirmations work in the same way, except their impact is more substantial and lasts longer as these words, through repetition, shuffle around inside your mind and make a sound home for positive influences.

Stress, poor diet, bad posture and other personal habits can all lead to blockages in one or more of your chakras, throwing aspects of your life out of balance. When it comes to chakra cleansing, affirmations are one of the most effective ways to get your energy centres back to a harmonious balance.

Affirmations

Chakra affirmations are similar to mantra meditations in that they use a combination of positive phrases and intentions to help you unlock new stages of consciousness. However, where they differ is that chakra affirmations specifically target the chakra (or chakras) you want to work on. It involves visualising healing energy in chakra-specific colours to help you unblock your energy centres and experience elevated mind-body radiance.

How to Incorporate These Affirmations into Your Daily Life?

It is important to bring these affirmations into your life in a calm, pronounced manner to manifest them into your subconscious fully. There are various ways you can incorporate Root Chakra affirmations into your routine—I have listed them here for you. You can always utilise more than one method for this purpose; the aim is to choose the ones that work best for you. Take a look:

Journal These Affirmations

Write them down in your journal and keep it at your bedside table so you can begin and end your day by reciting them to yourself and simmer in the calm and positivity they bring.

Say Them Out Loud

After knowing all or some of your favourite mantras by heart, you can simply take out 4-5 minutes and chant them to yourself to ground your energy whenever, wherever. You should also do this, especially in the mornings upon waking up to have a good start into the day.

Write Them Down as Notes

Stick these notes on your bathroom mirror, or maybe on the dashboard of your car, in your cupboard, basically anywhere you’ll see them every day, and rehearse them out loud.

Set Reminders on Your Phone

You can also make a list of these mantras in your phone’s notes app and set reminders for any suitable time of the day when you can take 5 minutes to free yourself of routine anxiety or pressure.

5 Minute Root Chakra Meditation

We all lead busy lives. On crazy days, surely you can still find just 5 minutes to bring yourself back to centre. The following is how you can meditate to align your Root Chakra fast:

  1. Sit in a resting position with all your muscles at ease, shoulders back, and spine straight.
  2. Next, focus on slowing down your breathing to a most tranquil rate; pull in the air as much as you comfortably can, far inside your body, then exhale through the mouth.
  3. Now, centre your focus on your Root Chakra, which is the end of your spine. Close your eyes and picture a red glow in that area, as red is the Chakra colour.
  4. Now, as you release tension from your body, especially targeting the Root Chakra, you will picture the red glow expand slowly into a sensation of warmth in that area.
  5. Continue in this relaxed manner for 5-6 minutes.
  6. You may choose to recite in your mind or out loud one of the Root Chakra Affirmations listed above.
  7. When you feel centred and composed, slowly open your eyes.

If you struggle with the above, try and guided meditation, the below is an excellent one that I use regularly:
